Protecting the Icons of the Welsh Countryside
We are a dedicated group of volunteers committed to the welfare and protection of the European badger (Meles meles) across Wales. From the rugged peaks of Eryri to the lush valleys of the South, we work to ensure these ancient residents thrive in their natural habitats.
Our Mission:
Monitor: Mapping setts to better understand local populations, road kills to record bTB with Welsh Gov.
Protect: Campaigning against badger persecution and promoting humane solutions to wildlife conflicts.
Educate: Raising public awareness about the vital role badgers play in our ecosystem.
Sett Survey Training
Our boots-on-the-ground work involves identifying and monitoring active setts across the Welsh landscape.
What we do: Record entrance holes, bedding, latrines, and "snuffle holes" to determine territory health.
Why it matters: Data collected is vital for planning applications and protecting habitats from unauthorised development.
Injured, orphaned, or distressed badgers require specialist handling.
Rapid Response: We coordinate with local vets and wildlife rehabilitators to rescue badgers caught in snares, injured on roads, or suffering from illness.
Our Goal: To rehabilitate and release every badger back into its original territory whenever possible.
Rescue Principles: We are guided by the 10 principles agreed via Badger Trust with the British Wildlife Rehabilitation Council - https://www.bwrc.org.uk/10-principles/

We even meet some celebs who love badgers like Mr Michael Sheen
Changing hearts and minds is how we ensure a future for Welsh badgers.
Schools & Groups: We offer talks to local schools, scouts, and community hubs about the secret life of badgers.
Co-existence: Providing landowners with practical, non-lethal solutions for garden or crop damage.

We are a political voice for those who cannot speak.
We lobby the Senedd for stronger legal protections.
We actively oppose the badger cull in Wales, advocating instead for the vaccination of cattle and badgers as a more humane and effective way to manage bovine TB.
Badgers are one of the most persecuted species in the UK. We work closely with North/South Wales Police and the National Wildlife Crime Unit.
Vigilance: Monitoring setts at risk of badger baiting, digging, or illegal lamping.
Evidence: Training our volunteers on how to safely and legally record evidence of crime scenes to assist in prosecutions.
